3/30 (bit behind…) Ham Wall, Somerset. Very beautiful and bigger than I thought it was going to be. We watched a marsh harrier cardying nesting materials across the reedbed, and heard a booming bittern! The Avalon Hide has a sign on it warning you that one of the barn owls likes to take his dinner inside, so there might be mess 😁

One of our beautiful goldfinch visitors in the golden winter sun last week. They’re one of my favourites (you’ll soon learn pretty much all birds are my favourites), and they look a little bit emo with their black eyeliner and red eyeshadow. It’s giving Sweet Cheers era My Chemical Romance.
