A colossal statue of a young man lies unfinished on a hillside on the Greek island of Naxos. The statue, known as a kouros, was one of several abandoned by ancient sculptors for unknown reasons. The sleeping giant of Naxos is a mystery that fascinates archaeologists and tourists alike.

Still sounds great though. This is a really good recording of #Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor. I get so frustrated when a poor recording of Violin Concerto in E minor gets released.

This photo was taken in 1991 on holiday in one or other of the #GreekIslands of #Naxos or #Paros . The lady in the photo is my late wife Fara taken the year before we were married. Don't remember getting this album at all. It was only released by #Naxos in Nov. 2022, so it it strange that I should forget getting it and that I haven't listened to yet.
Santoro's Concerto Grosso is a hell of a tune to wake up to. It would make perfect Halloween music.
