I'm extremely proud of the 2024 #NBPy website. Why? Because it exists! 10 months in advance!
We were still showing the 2019 website for 5 months after we announced our 2023 conference, when we could have been providing information to people who wanted it.
So for next year, we have a website that you can read. It'll have information as it comes to hand. It'll have colour and branding⦠eventually.
Hooray! Time to block out your calendars for next yearβs #NBPy: https://social.northbaypython.org/@NorthBayPython/110986146392469146
Adding to my (small) list of #NBPy regrets is that you can't tell from the videos that the event was held in a barn.
It's a good reminder that we need to focus more on building up a sense of place with our stage design next year.
In which I post some pictures of cats, Petaluma, and roadside views, as well as tell you to watch some talks and go to #NBPy: https://nkantar.com/blog/2023/08/nbpy-2023-afterfeels/
Me v. impatiently waiting for the last two #NBPy talk videos to be released so I can link them in my blog post and publish it. π
I love how the combination of the facts that 1. I've Boosted posts from @NorthBayPython announcing the talks I particularly liked, and
2. that I get notified of edits to posts I've Boosted
mean that I effectively get notified when those talks' videos are uploaded! #NBPy
Hello attendees! Keep a lookout in your inbox for our official post-conference survey.
Your answers will help us make future #NBPy events even better.
It's OK for a new category of thing to need a new definition for open. It's not OK to erode hard won consensus on a term of art like open source.
Yesterday at #NBPy we celebrated 25 years of open source and @osi, and their stewarding the Open Source Definition... especially as over-capitalized opportunists try to bank on the cachet of "open source" without delivering its promises.
Today, I'm reading an article carrying water for those same opportunists. Frustrating.

Bye @NorthBayPython It was a weekend well spent. See you next time.

Hi Paulina! We'll miss you. Thanks for being fabulous π»
#IceCreamSelfie π¦ππ€³ @NorthBayPython
Lavender (gluten free) ice cream from Angela's Organic Ice Cream in Petaluma.
They ran out of the waffle cone, and only had the gluten free waffle cone, so I got that. It was really good. The lavender ice cream is really special! π

Enjoy! (And spread the word #nbpy is an amazing conference full of cool and interesting talks)
I regrettably was unable to attend the second day of #nbpy and am sad to have missed it, but I thoroughly enjoyed my first day there.
My talk "Back to the Future of Hypermedia in Python" is now online. I provide an overview into a hypermedia-driven web application and introduce the PyHAT stack (python hypermedia tailwind).

My @NorthBayPython talk recording, "Developing Labs for Teaching Kids Webdev" https://pretalx.northbaypython.org/nbpy-2023/talk/AD9XXX/, is online:

Turnaround: 15 hours! Thanks, @nextdayvideo!
Slides: https://mattcen.github.io/2023-07-teach-kids-webdev/; blog post forthcoming.
Thanks also to #NBPy for facilitating a great conference, #FOSSY @conservancy for also having me talk, and @ekulbyrnes for devising this ridiculous #ScoutHack idea!
I'm just trying to check-in for my flight tomorrow so I could go back home π₯ but computering is hard.
I think they should watch @itsthejoker's talk about Exceptions and have raise some custom exceptions or something π₯Ή
