man I am really kicking myself for not buying an xkcd tie back in the day. I didn't buy one because I didn't think it would be "serious" enough for tie-wearing situations. Now I realize I can wear "not-serious' ties in situations where nobody else will wear a tie at all and it'll be even cooler.

But now? xkcd store closed. No ties ever.

@johnmaher I approve of this style of #necktie wearing. You can wear a necktie casually without buttoning up.

This looks like a four-in-hand knot at a distance. I would only have suggested he try a "cross Victoria" #knot instead for something equally simple, but that keeps its shape better if you want to readjust it a lot.

@the_meghaning One of the things that I think is nice about this Mastodon community is that you don't have to be, and you're welcome all the same. I feel that most people are nerds about *something* (whether it's programming at a terminal, music mixes #anonradio, sharing today's #necktie #knot, or something else). Sharing and learning about that sort of esoterica is fun!

And it's a nice community, too. I recently got very helpful support when I shared some bad family health news.
