IT IS DOOOONE!! My Rhaenyra dress was finished in time for the Medievales and I had such a great time in it. We took the pictures a few days after in a field next to my home, at dawn in the middle of the heatwave lol. I really felt the Targaryen eleganza extravaganza when trying to pose despite the very unpractical sleeves lmao.

Okay! So I tried out some colour adjustments after taking thr photos, to make the photo on my phone screen match up better with what I see in person. Not too bad, I think.

The photo on the left is of the little triangular shawl, nearly done the stockinette stitching part (with yarn-overs along the edge). It's a nice blue-green that Drops calls "diesel."

The photo on the right is the Shawl of Solitaire just started in a nice light green.

Also in view are my shiny new KnitPicks circular needles, they're very nice to work with, the points are very nicely tapered and the shafts are ever so slightly textured in a matte sort of way.

Still using the Drops Kid Silk, a fluffy laceweight blend of mohair and silk. I also have three skeins set aside in red but they're going to wait.

It's probably a bit insane, but why not?

A the #needlecraft show yesterday I saw a pair of very fine, handknit fingerless gloves. When I asked, what they were made from, I was showed this ball of yarn and the information that she had used probably 2.0 mm needles.

I love fingerless gloves, usually I make them from fingering weight yarn. Lace weight seems like a challenge I just had to accept ... Gauge - probably around 42 sts / 10 cm.

My newest cutie is ready!! I'm so happy with the final result, it really feel like a winter palette but the overall vibe is still cosy. The little dog-as-a-lemon-cake is a convincing cousin to the croissant-cat in my mind, I'm delighted :blobCatHeart:

My momma is a busy bee. She has been doing needling for about 75 years now. She has taken over the sitting room. She mostly makes Christmas ornaments with the occasional stocking or decorative pillow thrown in. She is a machine just cranking out Christmas 24/7/365.

This lunchtime I have stolen 30 mins to look through the box of my grandmother’s books I couldn’t bring myself to give away during the clearance of my parents’ house. Gosh this is a gem. Annie S Paterson’s edited collection The Big Book of Needlecraft. My Nan bought it (or it was bought for her) in January 1937 when she was just 13. I adore it. It is an absolute encyclopaedia on everything from how to execute a perfect bullion stitch to leatherwork and lingerie making. #needlecraft @fiberarts

@Kayray @fagrology Right??? And the quilt that grandma and I made from the scraps of the dresses for the handmade doll my mom made and grandma dressed? On display! (although Marydoll too resides wrapped in acid-free tissue in a special box like the honored potentate of a long vanished empire)
