"Negativitätseffekt" trägt dazu bei, dass Dinge negativer Natur (z.B. unangenehme Gedanken, Emotionen, soziale Interaktionen, schädliche, traumatische Ereignisse u.v.m.) selbst bei gleicher Intensität! eine grössere Wirkung auf den psychischen Zustand und eigene Verhaltensweisen haben, als neutrale oder positive Dinge.
