I don't know what happened to the rest of my post, but here it is again...

I love #KDE Plasma. It is far and away my favorite desktop environment because of how insanely customizable it is out of the box. I love using #qt apps and KDE developed apps for the aesthetic.

#neochat is by far the worst Matrix client I have used. It melds into my desktop aesthetic beautifully, but functionally it's missing several core features that make other clients like Element something I can actually use.

The #Ansible playbook I found is by far the easiest way to do it, which is insane given the level of complexity that playbook has. The documentation is excellent, but still lacking in certain regards. There's plenty of room for improvement.

All of that said, the various #Matrix clients out there offer plenty of choice and differing levels of functionality. The one I'd like to highlight right now is #NeoChat from #KDE

So I tried several #matrix clients over the last few months.

I tried #nheko and #neochat - and I like both very much. But they both have stuff that does not work as reliably as I would like it. neochat does not really show me spaces, at least I feel like they are not as discoverable as with nheko for example.

nheko is also really nice, but does not integrate into #kde that good (visually).

I am now back to #element, believe it or not. :blobeyes:

It seems that all of the topics I'm interested in from @kde 's #Akademy2023 are from the BoF sessions (eg #PlasmaMobile and associated applications nuch as #NeoChat , #Nheko , @tokodon etc).

Does anyone know where there may be videos of the BoF sessions online? I wonder if @kde_community is planning to upload these in addition to the main talks?

das mit diesem #snap zeuch will einfach nicht rund laufen, oder? wollte #neochat ausprobieren, kein debian-paket gefunden. via #flatpak installiert, startet gar nicht erst. via #snapctl installiert und funktioniert -- aber nur bis zum neustart des systems. deinstalliert und neu installiert und funktioniert -- bis zum nächsten neustart. WTF.

Well, getting #Tokodon and #NeoChat from the #KDE repositories was easy enough for me once I got it set up.
It really is too bad #KDEGear is not available in the native repos, there are quite some useful tools.

Now let me replace #nheko with #neochat and I'm fully back to #kde project apps on my desktop again.

But I guess #nixos stable does not yet have neochat with encryption support, does it?

Impressed by the progress made recently to provide a completely #opensource alternative to the de facto iOS-Android mobile phone duopoly: #kde #MobilePlasma on the original #pinephone works mostly well now. Easy on the eye, keeps the battery charge, and reconnects when the mobile connection drops. Also a decent choice of relevant apps. I'm typing this on #tokodon and messaging is a pleasure with #matrix client #neochat
