I beat #Neofeud today.

This is a #Cyberpunk #IndieGame from #SilverSpook Games. Through the format of a point-and-click adventure game, Neofeud tells the story of a social worker ex-cop and a robot gangster in a technocratic, hyper-capitalist, neofeudal dystopia. The city of Coastlandia is split between the floating upper city for the elites, and the lower city for the commoners.

The creator, Christian Miller (Silver Spook) based the game on his very real experiences as a Native Hawaiian social worker living in poverty in the shadows of mega-mansions. He has been critical of recent cyberpunk's loss of the radical societal critique that the genre was founded on, while it uses the aesthetics as a front for milquetoast individualistic consumerism. Neofeud returns, stronger than ever, to cyberpunk's radical roots.

The story is compelling, starting off slowly and picking up in intensity as it progresses. The graphics are all handmade and very vivid. You can definitely tell it's an indie game, and it's very well-made and clearly with a lot of care. I've never played a game like it, and I'm excited for the release of Neofeud 2, which is in development.

The problem isn't people being replaced by machines. Human labor being replaced by machine "labor" is how we get to fully automated luxury gay space communism. The problem is who owns the machines and benefits from replacing the human workers. It's never the workers or consumers. We can't get to fully automated luxury gay space communism that way, just #Neofeud.
