I have been making a concerted effort since I got my new computer to make myself play fighting games via and and so that bit by bit over time I can actually learn the strategy of the medium beyond button mashing.

It is not going well so far, but I've gotten to see the first 3 or 4 levels and nothing more of a number of titles lol

I feel like I eventually found my rhythm with it, but it still felt like I was putting a lot of extra work in just to play a game, and I wasn't playing at my best. If you grew up playing games with the original, and want to create some new memories, then you should definitely get one - but after a couple of hours with mine, without that ingrained nostalgia, I can't imagine myself reaching for it over a proper fight stick or a more normal gamepad. 🏁

My controller arrived. This is a brand new, -licensed controller from 8BitDo, with a faithful remake of the clicky joystick of the original. I'm a bit of a D-pad afficionado (read: snob), so I pre-ordered one basically the moment I heard it was going to be a thing.

So now that it's here, and I've had some time to play with it (a few hours combined of Crystal Caves HD and Streets of Rage), the question is: Is this my new favourite controller in the world?

No... no, it's not.

I purchased this Neo Geo CD controller redo from 8Bitdo and it’s great but it only works with Steam forcing me to purchase the Samurai Shodown Collection on that platform. I didn’t mind spending the six dollars but I’ve purchased these same titles at least 20 times over the years.

Someone literally offered a complete collection for €15k starting / €30k buy now some years ago, and if I had like 6-7 digits spare, I would've considered buying and starting some / with these...
