In her book on Buster Keaton, Dana Stevens writes that early TV drew so heavily on vaudeville that a new term was created to describe the phenomenon: VAUDEO

In a previous corpus-linguistic study (https://doi.org/10.1093/ijl/ecz033), we found that #neologisms built only with 'native' #language material are accepted faster into the German language than #loanwords from #English.
Back then, we operationalized 'acceptance into the language' by the amount of 'flagging' (use of linguistic markers, e.g. quotes or "so-called").

I'm also prone to coming up with #neologisms and #portmanteaus, like krapitalism, killionaire, and such. Words are one of my favorite art forms and I play with them as loosely as Carroll or Shakespeare.
I had no idea that the word “embiggen” dates back to a satirical article from the 1880s! https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/58647/10-words-simpsons-made-famous #Neologisms #Cromulent
Spotted the term #illodrama in #Hulk c1965. From what I can tell, this is a word that only #StanLee used to refer to #comicbooks. I'm not even sure what the origin could be. Maybe #Latin? But that doesn't make sense in #translation.

I think I just invented a word:
Someone used two bits of punctuation together after a post, and I couldn't find that combo explained online - so I asked " What does (symbol set) mean in your weblect?"
I didn't feel that " dialect" was quite the right word, and "glyphary" was too weird...
