@nobodyinperson I sync 6 different "accounts/mailboxes" (around 800 actual folders) with around 1.a little million mails using mbsync to a local directory. One subdir in there per account. afew to apply sind mass tag changes based on some filters i want. And then notmuch to index and (via its emacs interface) read/ search/ reply/ write/....
Works pretty well. That maildir i get out of this is backed up using some restic, unsure what git would do with the amount of files.
#gitannex #mbsync #mutt #neomutt #supmail #nmail #alpine
I am looking for a solution to my email problem. I need a searchable backup system for all my email adresses, preferrably in a format that's (:gitannex: #gitAnnex) sync friendly (e.g. all just .eml files). A terminal-based Thunderbird alternative would also be nice. I see there's #mbsync #mutt #neomutt #supMail #nmail #alpine and so many more but no concise overview with feature comparison. What would you recommend?

Boostbox now does email (thanks to #neomutt)
#notmuch is giving me a headache. #coredumps ? Really ? On #Friday ? So looks like the only way out of it is to dump everything into .txt, notmuch-new then notmuch-restore it again. Will see what happens. Is there another fast and reliable indexer for emails which works with #neomutt / #mutt ?
#notmuch #coredumps #friday #neomutt #mutt
switched from #neomutt to #aerc and i'm never looking back. the setup process for aerc was so simple and after working out a few kinks it works great on my #pinephone!
@hamblingreen I've just been reading over the docs of #aerc and think I might install it on my #PineBookPro running #PostmarketOS and see how I like it compared to #Neomutt . It certainly does seem extremely flexible config wise but I'll keep you posted.

@bacardi55 Related to the blogpost "New laptop part 4", I would love to read an article on #neomutt. I've never been able to get started with #mutt until now, unfortunately.
Spent a snowy evening configuring #NeoMutt to work with #ProtonMail.
Not sure yet if I’ll stick with terminal based email clients for the long term, but so far it’s alright.
Had another one of those "oh, I would like to learn #emacs, just looks so cool to be able to integrate everything: email, orgmode, coding into one framework". The (eval-buffer) interactive lisp thing is also awesome. But then... even with evil-mode there's just far too many frustrating, insanely complicated keyboard shortcuts to make the experience worth while. So I slithered back to my battle-hardened #sway #neomutt #neovim setup instead, and now I just feel so very warm and cozy...
What is your preferred #email client and why?

Neomutt, finally got everything to work... Email delivery seems to be working, login credentials are currently GPG-encrypted, and the interface is sufficiently riced.
Now just need to figure out how to add secondary mailbox... or maybe just cc it to my personal mail :/

The problem when working with #thunderbird and multiple identities is that, sooner or later, you will compose an email using the wrong identity.
Mm..I wonder how is life using #neomutt and multiple identities.
@joel re some of your hopes with #neomutt: to select and move multiple emails, you can tag them (press 't' or 'Esc-t' to tag a whole thread) and then to perform a command on them all, do the command prefixed by ';'. For example, to move all tagged emails to a folder called 'Archive':
;s=Archive
