NerdCon: Nerdfighteria was the first time I really felt like I was a part of an actual community of people rather than a nebulous Internet thing.

During the opening, they had us talk to whoever was next to us. I usually hate that type of thing, but this was a fellow nerdfighter. We already had something in common, and I was able to talk about nerdy things I liked without feeling embarrassed or like I was being humored. We hung out for the rest of the con.
