Just sharing some things I appreciate right now :)

I remember a #Roguelike from the early/mid-1990s on #MSDOS that was probably a #NetHack or #Rogue variant, but instead of starting in an enclosed cave/dungeon system, you started on an overworld that used a lot of colors, and you could name an enemy before you started your game.

Does that sound familiar to anyone?

The ps5 is nice and all, but sometimes I just have #nethack cravings.

I never got (I mean: not yet) got the hang of #nethack but I really like the simplicity of the game in principal. It is wildly complex in the details of course.

I found solace in playing #CavesOfQud in the past and now even more so with the Roleplaying option as the Game Loop isn't like #Hades only 20ish minutes but possibly many hours. And one mistake and you can start over...?

in the work I did in my most recent dev session on Slartboz, in fact, if one was looking over my shoulder, you would totally "get it". that I love NetHack and HHGG. I have both subtle and not so subtle nods & homage to both in it

Finished another #nethack game - this time, ascended a human healer. Wasn’t able to genocide liches this time and they made the endgame awful, especially at Moloch’s Sanctum. 4110678 points.

Please suggest #CRPG or #adventure games with environment-interaction on at least the level of #Ultima 5++, Divine Divinity, Divinity: Original Sin, #Oblivion, Skyrim, #Nethack, or a well-modeled #Infocom /
#MagneticScrolls / #TADS / #Inform -level #TextAdventure — objects are movable or at least destructible, items “physically” exist in the world and aren’t just transfered from one menu to another (inventory), things can be in or on other things…

I am tired of games that are all gloss and surface with just the plot-relevant things being interactable.

Bonus points for elemental physics (water, fire, etc.), day/night/weather/climate, and basic needs simulation like needing to stay warm, fed, etc.

Reluctant malus points for pure dungeon crawls, although I do in principle adore games like Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of M&M, and Monomyth.

Serious malus points for turn-based games with party micro-management. Single-player much preferred.

Fantasy also much preferred.

@WoodooProd In the 90s we weren't particularly good at #NetHack, so we'd joke that when you finally see the amulet it would be a giant capital L. And when you picked it up it would affix itself to your forehead, and you couldn't remove it because it was cursed.
