Here’s an idea to reduce #NetMigration in the UK:
Reverse #Brexit so UK citizens can go live and work in EU again.
On this day when the policy debate seems to be dominated by #netmigration let's state the obvious.
The UK needs migrants more than migrants need the UK.
Migrants are young, healthy, and economically productive. Their taxes pay for the NHS of an ageing UK population.
Tory-voting retirees need to thank migrants for the taxes they pay, which pays for their hip replacements and state pensions.
Without migrants, the UK would be in complete economic and social collapse.
Be thankful for migrants!
So net migration last year was approx 606,000 people.
I wonder what the total increase in the GB population was if you take out the number of deaths and add the number of births?

Good to wake up to hear #NetMigration #Migration figures in #UK are up, migration being a good thing for all involved almost every time.
Does anyone know the emigration figures for the UK since Brexit? Wondering how removing our opportunities to live and work in EU countries impacts on #netmigration figures.
Prof @jdportes on #NetMigration in the Independent:
Will the shift towards higher skilled occupations and sectors help (as intended, and as most economists would expect) increase not just the size of the economy, but GDP per capita and productivity? Or will the UK, stuck in a post-Brexit low growth rut, become less attractive to the “brightest and best”; who of course have other options?

275,000 #EUCitizens have left the UK in the year to June 2022 according to latest #ONS figures released today.
61,000 more than arrived. Over 80% of EU citizens in the UK are economically active.
If you wonder why you can't see a GP, why hospitals don't have enough nurses, why service in cafes and restaurants is worsening, and why food prices are going up: EU #emigration is part of the reason.
