#Reddit, the only thing it had going for it was #networkeffect. I used it because that is what everyone uses. I don't like the voting concept, seemed to harbor #echochambers and drown out dissenting views. every thread always devolves into Rick and morty quotes, its not that great of a system at producing fruitful discourse. Interesting stuff can rise to the top by with simple metrics like # of comments. I turned off vote counts using a third party app, which will no longer be possible.

Originally, I planned to check my backlog and choose a new book today. However, I found myself sleepless last night, so I left the bed, grabbed the reader and chose what seemed the most appealing at this moment.

@abid Anything with a #networkeffect is very likely to centralize, including the #fediverse. The question is: what are we going to do about that? So far, we aren't ... and so we are definitely going down that path. Wild idea: "Progressive taxation" where large instances "pay more" in some fashion. It could be required contributions to code base. It could be slowed interactions. It could be an actual monetary exchange. Lots of choices.
