Happy to share that my paper on 'MLOps for Compositional AI' has been accepted at #NeurIPS 2022 Workshop on Challenges in Deploying and Monitoring Machine Learning Systems (DMML).

At #NeurIPS2022’s @workshopmlsb I will be presenting posters on #ModelAngelo (automated model building for cryo-EM) and Progres, fast structure search with equivariant GNNs. MA was done with @kimanius and @SjorsScheres and P is @jgreener64’s work, which I helped with.
Great #ai for #science workshop at #neurips2022. I am very optimistic about the progress we can make in science thanks to #ai. Running experiments and analyzing results at scale will start to be possible.

Are there some sort of guidelines for #NeurIPS2022 papers that recommends mathematical symbols, and terminology over plain language descriptions?
Formalism is nice, but seriously, a paragraph of notation could be replaced with a few lines of domain specific plain text language
Is someone else too interested in knowing common topics in papers/posters accepted in #NeurIPS2022 ? Pre-trained, fine-tuning, language models, self supervised, gradient descent seem to be common topics in Poster Session 3 after removing obvious stop words.
I am happy to say that our paper was accepted at #neurips2022 and we released not 1, not 2, but 6 companion datasets!🎉
The paper, "Turning the Tables: Biased, Imbalanced, Dynamic Tabular Datasets for ML Evaluation" presents a suite of datasets to evaluate ML fairness.😎
We are releasing these datasets because the normally currently used datasets to test ML fairness are small (less than 50k rows), are old (e.g., the frequently used "UCI Adult" is from 1994), or have documentation issues or data leakage.
On the contrary, our datasets are realistic, large (1 million rows), contain 5 different types of biases, have real-world properties (imbalanced, time shifts), and are privacy-preserving (via GANs, Laplacian noise, and filters and transformations).
Paper, datasets, datasheets, and code are available at:

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to detect institutions who rationalize their unfair decisions through fairwashing?

I think that we lose out a bit when a scientific field such as #AI becomes so large that we need to specialize just to follow the progress in our subfield, say #reinforcementlearning. It is even harder to keep up with the research in other fields in parallel, say in #education or #healthcare on top of #AI! #neurips2022

Browsing the papers presented at #neurips2022, it is not humanely possible to read all of them, or even to go through all the abstracts. A tool like #Meta #AI #Galactica would be very useful (if it works) to synthesize the key findings, methods, results for us.

Excellent talk by Rediet Abebe (https://www.redietabebe.com/) at #neurips2022 on Algorithms On the Bench: Examining Validity of ML Systems in the Public Sphere. Acquiring some domain expertise or working with domain experts (in her case education and law) seem necessary to hope to have some real world impact for #AI #ML applied work. https://nips.cc/virtual/2022/invited-talk/55868
