Hello! A new intro for a new instance.

I lead a research group trying to figure out axonal transport and neurodegeneration. A big emphasis on the microtubules and their motors, but really the transport of anything that doesn't have a membrane around it. For this we use a lot of single molecule methods and live cell imaging. I also post about research culture.

Researchers have discovered a new way to measure brain glucose metabolism using MRI. This technique could help diagnose and monitor neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It could also reveal how the brain uses glucose for its various functions.

Did it become fashionable to write reviews #hallmarks of whatever, following the #HallmarksOfCancer? (I've seen at least #ageing and #neurodegeneration) Are people in other fields aware of how the hallmarks of cancer panned out?
- it started with 6, was revised to 10 and re-revised to 14 hallmarks
- none of the hallmarks is common to all types of cancer
- many of the hallmarks are found in healthy cells/tissues
- didn't clarify the field much if at all

it takes more than a catchy title...
