This feels like a good day for making Claire Saffitz browned butter cookies for my family.

This day in my country is a friendship day (which I much prefer to the whole romantic stuff).

Although not everyone is included even then, it has allowed me to construct it as "appreciate those you love"-day, regardless of the relationship.

I don't really have friends as it is typically understood.

Being long term stuck as #adhd, a thing?

Been feeling pretty meh, unable to focus myself properly and sort of just stuck.

I have in-person work rehearsal of my studies starting in March. I am realizing I am in some sort of lenghtened #WaitingMode because of this. I wish it would just start already.

I seem to really struggle to do much in the now. I am here, but at same time sort of spaced out/between time.

Anyone else? I am not enjoying this part of the #NeuroDifferent experience at all.

Thoughts about thinking.

The way my thoughts work: I take in information and my brain automatically forms models which are consistent with that information as best as I can tell. I use those models to make predictions, a.k.a. "new thoughts" about what I'm thinking about. This process is more or less automatic, but I am increasingly aware of the model's existence.

That #NeuroDifferent moment when you put on hand lotion in the evening and wonder why it stings a bit only to realize you must have burnt yourself a bit while cooking.

As someone who is actively ditching #DietCulture and have understood how being #NeuroDifferent plays into it, I have started to notice somewhat problematic intense needs to fit in within neurokin that often border on pretty deep ableism.

A part of me feels like the entire biomedical model just reinforces various kinds of mandatory performance/anxiety to fit in that is at its core harmful to us.

I have been rude and needed to do this. It is now clear to me that introductions are part of the social expectations on mastodon. Apologies for tardiness.

I'm here mostly for the #NeuroDivergent #NeuroDifferent #ADHD communities with a helping of parenting, computers, anti-capitalism.

Being #NeuroDifferent and how it relates to pain and sometimes lowered awareness of bodily stress I am left wondering how much of this might be #masking too?

I know I was physically bullied enough to learn to hide my distress, or punished for misbehaviour to which signs of pain got counted too.

It leads to somewhat scary medical situations, you never present "typically". There are more than one occasion where my "too collected" outer appearance has almost cost me my life.

We live in a world where ethical and fair ideas are considered "radical" and talking openly about them is often frowned upon.

I don't know about you, but I have always found this to be extremely weird and have never been willing to shut up for the sake of saving face, mine or others.

Maybe this is the "justice sensitivity" thing in me? No wonder it too has been named and shamed & labelled pathological.
