TCM is airing “Never Fear” (1949) tonight, Ida Lupino’s second directorial effort and the first she took official credit on. She also co-produced and co-wrote this story of a young dancer suddenly stricken by polio.
Lupino, herself, had survived a bout with polio at age 16, during her first year in Hollywood. She wrote about it for Photoplay magazine in 1946 to support the March of Dimes effort. Here is her story, titled “My Fight for Life”…
