If you are a new admin, I want to offer you two tools to protect your instance on day one. They represent two different approaches to defederation.

1. Manual defederation

Go to the moderation settings and add an instance block. Choose "suspend" to block all interactions from that instance.

2. Automatic (or "coupled") defederation

This is especially helpful if you have been on another instance for a while and trust their moderation.
