What’s the best way to find and follow?
If I search from my instance I can follow who I find. But if click on a handle out in the wild I’m directed to their instance and asked to create an account. I can copy their handle, go to my instance, paste and search and then follow.
But is there an easier way?

Maybe it's my age starting to show, but there's definitely a learning curve to figuring out how to get the most out of Mastodon. I *think* I'm starting to figure it out, though.

Ok , I’m new here and trying to get up to speed. I’m logged into the app here, but when I went online with my computer it wouldn’t let me login. I guess I had to find the same ‘server’ I’d signed up for with the app, and then I was able to get in. They need to have clearer verbiage when you try to log in to help direct people towards the correct server. Many are going to get hung up on this. Especially with the surge of new users abandoning the Electric BlueBird #newbieproblems

OK, I have an "appropriateness" question. Is it considered bad form to have separate #mastodon accounts for different focuses or different audiences? I'm guessing it's quite normal, but for some reason I've hesitated to set up the second account until I feel validated by those more savvy about such things. #newbie #newbieproblems

I am using the web version of mstdn.social. Is there a way to pause the stream of posts in the Federated timeline? New posts are scrolling by so fast as to be unreadable. #Newbie #NewbieProblems

It's strange to me that part of my Bird App persona was over-the-top tongue-in-cheek self-promotion. I used vanity as a (hopefully) humorous tool while genuinely hoping people would read my blog and buy my books.

My political commentary was intentionally inflammatory (although sincere) and my snark generally untethered.

I just can't bring myself to take that approach here - at least not yet. It just feels... WRONG. Why is that, do you think?

I came across a helpful post directing those so inclined to servers focused on #education and #teachers and found myself thinking I'd somehow "done Mastodon wrong" before I even got started!
