This message is for folks from that other place, who are still trying to adjust: I have noticed, the longer I’m here, interacting with others around mutual subjects of interest, the more these connections are growing and far surpassing what I enjoyed at the other place. Advice: be kind, be liberal in your follows, likes/ boosts of others, and simply block anyone you want to see less of. It’s worth the effort though it does take a while to curate your feed. Pour les #newbies comme moi, un message fondamental si vous tentez un jour de mettre en place un #reverseproxy sur votre #NAS ou #homeserver : ne cherchez pas à tester en local le bon forwarding de l'ip du client car cela ne fonctionne pas avec les plages d'ip privées. Vous obtiendrez toujours l'ip du proxy ou de la passerelle comme soit disant ip du client (pourquoi, ca .. ?). Testez avec un client hors du réseau local et là, ça fonctionnera sûrement du 1er coup ... !

@tomw Step 1 is a problem for #newbies as that's where The Algorithm would typically help (for better or worse). I'd suggest checking the Local feed (if the instance is based around a community) and/or search and follow some #hashtags. We all need to hashtag more, for that reason.

✅ Листайте ваши локальные и глобальные ленты, и подписывайтесь на тех, кто интересен - тут нет алгоритма, который будет подсовывать вам контент. Набрать свою ленту нужно будет самостоятельно. Также возможно вам будет полезно зайти в настройки и установить языки контента, которые вы хотите видеть в ленте.
✅ Общайтесь с людьми.
✅ Не бросайте как только Twitter опять даст заднюю - дайте свободным соцсетям шанс, они могут вас удивить.

To all you lovely folks coming onto #Mastodon can you all do me a wee itty-bitty favour perchance? Fill out your #Profile's info as soon as possible before asking to follow others. Blank profiles are a bit of a red flag I'm afraid and you'll get more interaction with a filled in profile. Don't forget to drop in some personalised hashtags too so other folk can find likeminded souls.
