A small bit of code in the html source of the page you are linking to will do the trick (see https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#verification)

- Link to your (former) Twitter account:
You can use https://twittodon.com. All you have to do is send a tweet and a post on Mastodon; you don't give access to your accounts.

- I hope that @ORCID_Org will find a solution to verify links!

I would like to add number 4️⃣: first toot in a threat goes public, the rest unlisted, to avoid flooding other people’s timelines!

New people need to be aware of key differences with the birdsite:

1️⃣ Use #hashtags: There is no full text search, only hashtags can be searched.

2️⃣ Boost (🔁) content that you enjoy for others to also benefit from it. It's the only way to make content more visible. With favs (⭐️), you just show your appreciation to the poster, or bookmark (still useful b/c 1️⃣)

3️⃣ Be careful with DMs, they work like advertised: content visible only to tagged people.

9) #Filters work and help improve the contents of your timeline!

On the website, go to Preferences > Filters > Add a new filter.
(You can also set filters on the Metatext app).

For instance, I do not want to read here about the new owner of the bird site, so I am filtering out his first name from my timeline.

The filter can also be temporary.

Don't forget to select at least "Home" in the "Filter contexts" section!

For those trying to invite your friends over there in the bird app, I’ve discovered that if you write it as instance slash @ username, the link works directly. Otherwise, the app seems to try to send an email.

7) You can filter out automatic retweets from Twitter.

Go to Preferences, Filters, and add a new filter with "RT @" (don't forget to select at least "Home").

Can work also with "@twitter.com" to remove all mentions of Twitter handles.
