The "New Conservatives" picked Jonathan Gullis to front up their first public appearance as a group on the morning shows today. If Jonathan Gullis is seriously the best ambassador they can think of then I hope they take over the #Conservative party. It'll smooth a Labour victory in 2024. With the SNP as the main opposition and the Liberal Democrats in third.

Listening to #r4today on the wireless this morning, I learn of a new Tory faction - the #NewConservatives - who among other things wish to slash immigration by raising the minimum salary for a #SkilledWorkerVisa to near 40k English Groats.

As well as decimating the #NHS, this would kill off #science #research, where the starting salary for new postdocs is less than the proposed minimum for visiting contract researchers. You can think of them as the #JuniorDoctors of academe.
