2/3🧵: After #covid19, #climatebreakdown and #costofliving crisis, it would make sense, none of the lightheartedness of the 90s. If the #NewContemporaries are in any way representative of the mood of the Youth, I pray they create great opportunities to build their own joy and meaning.

1/3🧵: I hadn’t been to a #NewContemporaries exhibition in decades, such a shame! This yearly exhibition features a selection of the best #arts graduates. While there were some stated themes, I couldn’t help but notice an undercurrent of dislocation, loss, nostalgia for a world that is disappearing. Still the proverbial commentary on the futility of a mercantile society was represented but it was remarkably more heartfelt, lived in. #Contemporaryart #BritishArt
