Browsing through #NewNetherland records to prove or disprove the #Dutch origins of an American family. So many #familyhistory publications (printed and online) copied information with studying original sources. That is not how to do serious #genealogy research…

This morning I am looking for #evidence that a Danish man, who was in #Amsterdam in 1643, was the father of a man, who had offspring in #NewNetherland. This evidence will disprove many online family trees who all suggest another man is the father.

I'm a historian of early America who cut his scholarly teeth on #NewNetherland. As someone recently said to me, "you were doing Dutch studies before it was cool." Indeed.
