Preamble: I realise this is going to make me appear to be completely indecisive, clueless, & indeed plain bonkers. Spoiler: That's not an invalid inference... 🤪

Given this entirely [for me] unexpected "recovery" of dear Kolektiva's #SlowMode #timeline auto-updating functionality, & given a hair-tearingly frustrating problem* i've been unable to solve in my shiny new #Infosec #Instance, i've now decided to abandon my plan to fully migrate from K to I. I shall stay with K, & need now to decide whether i'll fully kill off my nascent I account, or otherwise place it into some kind of dormancy in the event of still needing some future "escape pod".

* In all other aspects, even with last night's little flutter of temporary panic over my naive choice of Infosec in complete ignorance of certain implications / imputations, my new Infosec account had seemed to be going great. With one significant exception. Several favourite #NewsBots have simply refused to play nice with my Infosec account. They worked fine back in my original Instance, #Fosstodon, & they still work fine in #Kolektiva , but inexplicably & tbh quite infuriatingly, either they each refuse to feed Infosec, or Infosec refuses to accept their feeds. I fought them for much of yesterday, & had just resumed the battle this morning, when i became utterly distracted by the discovery of Kolektiva's recovery. 🤯

TL;DR: Contrary to my recent announcement, in fact atm i expect my ongoing main/active account shall remain https://kolektiva.social/@MsDropbear .

Doing my diurnal morning read thru all the overnight new posts in my Home feed, i see as usual heaps of #ClimateCrisis posts by worthy concerned peeps. Scattered amongst these are new items from my various #NewsBots. One such links to a Guardian article apparently on "Australians face 50% hike in air fares to fly to Europe this year, data suggests". Reading said article via the link https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/17/australians-face-50-hike-in-air-fares-to-fly-to-europe-this-year-data-suggests informs me of a reportage tone implicitly characterising this as if it's a bad thing.

Weeks ago i enthusiastically added several #NewsBots [& some twatter bots eg #RN's #PK] to my feed, but now i'm seriously considering removing them. Why do they consistently post & repost news links *multiple* hours, half a day, a day, more+, when the underlying event is now stale. Eg, just now, a heap more "new" posts arrived, 17:15, promoting what's coming up next & soon, on #PK's show this morn, ie, 10-11 hours ago. What's the point of this?

Anyone know why several of the #newsbots here which are pulling posts from #twitter are several days behind? Ve got Reuters posts that are 9 days old showing up as “new” in my feed here. 🤔

newsbots.eu is closing which will take some #left wing news feeds off #Mastodon.

That's a bit of a loss I think. Even though I didn't really follow most of them or share their toots.

We need more left wing content, not less.

To be honest, I've always wanted #bloggers and commentors to post on #Mastodon. Maybe someone can start a new #bot to take over from newsbots.eu. I've always wanted something to reblog #Facebook posts - to save people having to go to that hell site
