I would suggest a small modification, thou.
A #fediverse client which is also a #newsgroup *server*.
You would simply connect using your favorite newsgroup reader. Should be also easier to build.

while i strongly disagree with the original #meme i think this one is at least good for a little smile.

@miki Thanks for the reply. There's definitely something about the internet originating in academia (and from there via NGOs like APC / #GreenNet according to Peter Willets). But I still suspect the federated #newsgroup as a medium had certain self-regulatory mechanics, not merely self-restraint in seeking status for its own end. IMHO 30 years of commercialisation have added few significant features to the essential nature of communication.

Am 6. August 1991 stellte Tim Berners-Lee in einem Beitrag zur #Newsgroup alt.hypertext das Projekt World Wide Web als #Hypertext-Dienst im #Internet vor.

Das World Wide Web (kurz #Web oder auch #WWW) entstand ab 1989 als Projekt an der Forschungseinrichtung #CERN, wo er ein Hypertext-System aufbaute. Die Idee stellte er am 12. März 1989 vor. Das Konzept wurde von Robert Cailliau mit entworfen. Am 30. April 1993 gab das CERN-Direktorium das WWW für die Öffentlichkeit frei.
