Spent today doing a one-day #welding course...

Cons:
> The guy, while obviously a very skilled welder was... not exactly organised
> Spent first 4 hours on theory, which was actually 30 mins theory and 3.5 hours anecdotes about the guy's life & greatest welding exploits
> He was also an antivax loon. Used the word 'plandemic' 🤦

Pros:
> Once we actually got welding it was super fun
> While I'm no master tradesman, I'm now confident could weld a fence in case of zombie apocalypse

I think I just figured out how to make a chain. No idea where to go from here but it's a start #NewSkill #Crochet

Today I had the pleasure of talking to somronr attempting a #newskill.
They have never done it before and naturally they sucked and were discouraged by it.

For anyone who needs to read or hear this: Becoming good at anything, from talking, to painting, to hiking or whatever, you need to #practice first and regularly.

It is a lie that - especially perpetuated by some on social media - of mastering totally new things in the blink of an eye.

But you can do to it. Just stick with regular practice and you can almost always do it. That's how humans have always learned things and sticking with something when it's still a challenge for you, it will be a unique experience you can't experience twice.

Life often sucks, it is often hard, but learning something that you think will bring you joy is never a pointless endeavor or even a waste of time!

This is my first completed visible mending project. Performed on a pair of DH's work pants, which were ripped by a nail. While I hope to get better at it, I'm pleased with this project - the outcome, the $ saved and the environmental outcome.

I learned how to print my art on a mug during my commercial printing class! So much fun, and now I have added “mug press” to my studio equipment wishlist, right behind “kiln” and “floor loom”…
