This would also be useful in other contexts. For instance, I only watch YouTube through RSS subscription on @NetNewsWire. If I could have NNW modify the address then clicking the link in the feed would load the video only, rather than the full YT UI.

Ha! Discovered my small local newspaper (which has declined to come over here so far) is using #Wordpress... which means they are putting out an #RSS feed. Which means I have added it to my personal #newsreader bot, which inserts news into my stream here, even if those news sources aren't here officially yet!

I was sharing with @mike a bit ago ( https://flipboard.social/@paul@oldfriends.live/110009030351674856 ) that Flipboard is one of the best #newsreader #apps that I can use with my #Parkinsons for #A11y.

So far, I really like 'Flipping' through my Mastodon timeline.

Been using Artifact for a few days, y’know, that new newsreader app from the Instagram founders, and I still don’t see how that’s different enough to Flipboard.

The stories I get are relevant to my interests but Flipboard does the same thing with slightly different set of publications and Flipboard doesn’t ask me for my phone number nor to connect with my friends. I don’t give a shit what they read.

Is there something else other than not wanting to add friends that I’m missing from this app?

das von dir geschilderte Problem kenne ich.
Es trat gleich 'zu Anfang' auf.
Die vielen NewsBots sind zwar interessant; müllen aber die persönliche TL voll.

Den Ausweg fand ich schnell: einen externen #NewsReader.
Einfach ein '.rss' an die URL des Bots, entfolgen und man hat die TL frei; verpasst aber auch keine News.
Das #fediverse steckt voller Möglichkeiten!

Ich finde 1fach keines! 😭

Anforderungen:

- >mehrere< #Schlagzeilen in Zeilenform in 1 #Widget untereinander,

- keine Anzeige von pics/vids mgl.,

- Quellen >strikt< auswählbar,

- mit Dunkel-Modi wäre es perfekt, aber kein Muß!

Ich brauch den ganzen "stylish" Tant nicht: Feedly (d.n.f), Flipboard, GoogleNews, AR, Feeder & NewsReader waren leider nicht zu gebrauchen!

RSS: Falling in love again.

Something SO rewarding about reengaging with individual blogs. Curating you feeds, rather than being fire-hosed with algorithmic slurry.
Obvs, not for everyone, but it a great way to take back a bit of control. Also you can easily add Mastodon peeps as RSS feeds, by adding their full address including server.
We don't need to be their chickens, following that one trail of corn. We have a whole farmyard to explore!

if you find you can handle the generative frictions of #mastodon's design -- the relatively light server- and feed-management tasks that give you some measure of control over flows of #attention and information -- then the right next step might be gathering RSS feeds direct (e.g. blogposts).
