My new year's resolution was to get into fermenting. This morning was my first attempt at making gallets, made with a fermented batter of buckwheat flour and kafir. Really tasty and ridiculously easy. This seems to be a common theme with fermenting. Everything I've tried so far has worked: various forms of sauerkraut, spiced pear & parsnip; both milk and water kefir. Looking forward to trying Kvass next week.

My 2023 #NewYearsResolution is simple and achievable: make a serious dent in my extensive (and growing!) backlog of video games I need to play and/or finish. I ended 2022 by finally finishing #HorizonForbiddenWest after 9 months of wittling away at it. Now onto the next for 2023!

On #instantgratification:

It takes effort for people to associate the merit of a thing (eg strength training or benefits of most #newyearsresolution) with its *eventual* results, but **it doesn't take any effort** to associate the merit of a thing with it's immediate results.

This doesn't exist in a vacuum. If your peers reject something with immediate downside (even minor & temporary) but good delayed benefits (even incredible), peer pressure kicks in.

You feel out-of-line, you should stop.

New year, better privacy? It's February already, time to check whether you have achieved this #NewYearsResolution to #DeGoogle. Switch to better alternatives now! 😀🥳

I'm not gonna lie, folks.

The resolutioner crowd bugs the heck out of me, and always has. They tend to treat the gym like a hotel room and don't care to grasp etiquette. They're loud. They performatively bang weights. They don't wipe down machines or sanitize their hands.

But, this year's been different.

I haven't really noticed the usual influx of jerks we get after New Years.

I wonder if inflation's to blame.
