I want to build a travel router, so when I am abroad I set up one machine (i.e. the router) and my devices connect to this known router SSID and a proper DNS (#nextdns etc.). There is a tutorial about it with a #raspberrypi and all traffic through a #VPN https://invidious.tiekoetter.com/watch?v=jlHWnKVpygw

So now I am wondering:

What if I just use #tailscale instead of NordVPN on the router? Would it be insecure? Would it be insecure to use my " main " tailscale network with my servers etc.?

I haven't posted a #DigitalHygiene tip in a while so here is a good one. If you want to control what you let in an out of your devices while using the internet try out #NextDNS. you can set it up on most devices with out any extra apps and it lets you filter the internet coming in and trying to leave your devices. you can even try it out without making an account, so there is no reason to not try it.

@lynze Es muy fácil de usar. Y en la propia web tienen guías. Pero básicamente puedes configurar varios perfiles y establecer restricciones en ellos. Luego cada perfil lo puedes aplicar a cada dispositivo por separado. Por ejemplo en iOS yo he creado un perfil para menores, establezco las restricciones en servicios e instalo el peril en su iPhone. Esto permite que en cualquier red la resolución DNS la haga siempre #NextDNS En lo que te pueda ayudar ya sabes !!!

#NextDNS me parece un servicio alucinante, es como Pihole o Adguard, se puede combinar junto con #Tailscale y te permite tener control sobre varios dispositivos https://nextdns.io/?from=rgvpfgpu

@ankaph me dice que la latencia es menor a 50ms. y la verdad es que no noto ninguna diferencia.

If you are looking for a good way to take control of your internet experience you should look for a custom DNS for your devices. I have one that I use for my phone as it is important to keep that safe as it now has access to most of your important things, IE bank, notes, messages, and photos. This is rather specific, but for anyone using #NextDNS and @mullvadnet on ChromeOS and you are getting a `DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_SECURE_CONFIG` error, do **not** change your DNS server for your network connection to the IPv6 address. You **can** still update your "Secure DNS" setting under "Network" to NextDNS' DoH which will still lead to NextDNS being used.

I love ProtonVPN and included Netshield that that blocks ads and trackers on a #VPN level. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a custom config, similar to #NextDNS blacklist?

This would allow me to block more content that I do not want as proton DNS is used rather than my NextDNS when connected.
