I tried the demo for #TheEternalCylinder in last year's autumn #NextFest and loved the visuals, creatures, and overall unique environment. I might have to lower the graphics to medium when I play based on what my OC can handle, but I'm looking forward to it.

#Melatonin is a rhythm-based game that looks dreamy and charming, and #PlanetCoaster was also on my wishlist for a while. I heard you can even "ride" the rides with a first-person view! #videogames

Demo for #LuckyIsland is one I'm on the fence on. It's tagged automation, but didn't scratch that itch, plus I kept getting lost in the UI.

It's a resource mgmt / town build game, driven by a slot machine akin to Luck Be A Landlord. You spin to get tools, that your villagers use to gather resources, which you use to hit daily goals. Over time you customize the slot machine.

It's a good concept, and I love LBAL, but I'm not sure this is for me. Check the demo though!

Last night I tried out #WordFactori cause I have an automation game itch I'm hoping to find a new game for.

It's an automation puzzle game. You get factories that can produce the letter I. You then use machines to manipulate it (bend to make a C, combine two to make a V, etc) to create new letters, which you feed into receptors to make target words.

I'll probably pick this one up for when I want short automation gaming instead of hours of Factorio.

Started out today with the demo of #Thronefall, a medieval non-grid tower defense where you can also run around to help defend and lead units to attack threats.

A coworker tipped me off to this, and I'm glad cause it's a solid game! You can build specific buildings on specific spots so the level layout is pretty fixed, but you determine how you want to spend your money. By the second map I had more places to spend than I had income, so choices make a difference.

Good Video games really are truly hard to make. This has been proven to me with 6 games played straight from Steam Next fest and they were all awful

My first demo today was #SolarBlack, a #VR rhythm game with slashing, shooting, and dodging obstacles.

Good: Graphics are clean, I like the song they have in the demo, and the combo of beat saber style slashes and pistol whip style shots blended well and I got a feel for smoothly taking shots when I was supposed to. I like this game.

Bad: Might be me, I'm using a Quest 2, with Pro controllers, over link cable. Keep missing slashes, that feel/look like hits.

I need to put more time into it, but I'm interested by what I've seen in the demo of Kanji Industry so far.

It's a bit like Shapez with the added "pick resources" reward you get at times in Mini Metro. You try to use simple Kanji, generated by producers and fed into various machines, to create more complex Kanji to meet supply goals and make money.

It's obviously in an early stage but there's a game concept and mechanics here I dig.

Good morning everyone! Retroactive for those where it's later in the day 😆

Fingers crossed today is quiet, doing some data analysis and virtual machine wrangling today for work which is my equivalent to "light work".

This weekend I'm gonna check out NextFest demos, play Mars First Logistics that I picked up last night, and get back into some Diablo 4. I'm not in a hurry on D4, I'm happy at a casual pace as long as I get to where I need to be when Season 1 starts.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was one of the random demos I downloaded to try during this Next Fest. I had absolutely no idea what to expect but I loved it!

Usually, I am not into puzzle games (even super light ones like this) but mix it with a good mystery, great art style and music and I am all in!

I thought The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood would be a more traditional point and click adventure but it seems it will be something very different but also very interesting.

It seems to have some good story potential and for lots of tragedy too with those choices we had to make.

This is definitely one that will go to the Wishlist!

Lies of P is an interesting Souls-like game. Since I only ever played some Dark Souls 1, this game's more action style felt very different.

Regular enemies felt easy to defeat while the first mini-boss gave me a lot of trouble. Even when I defeated it felt more like pure luck than actual skill.

The graphics are gorgeous though.

I will need to play a bit more to decide if it is a game for me.
