I have an old #Asus #Nexus7 #cellular with OEM #charging #dock. I've seen folks put some #wifi wardriving firmware on them, apparently. I know it's not worth much.

It holds a charge, and otherwise works, but it's too slow for me and I don't particularly want it in a landfill.

In the two weeks I've been here I've been using Tusky on my smartphone. Is been ok, everything works and it's readable. This morning, by way of experiment, I dug out my 6 year old Google Nexus 7, installed Tusky and wow, it's fabulous. Same layout, familiar usage, but a much larger screen and more readable. #ReuseOldTech #nexus7

My #Nexus7 is the 2012 wifi model, with the Nvidia Tegra chipset. Seems like there's a community port of #postmarketOS.

Just getting updates to install from Google Play Store on the #Nexus7 has been hit and miss. The HW is still not too shabby compared to the #Pinephone's, so I'm guessing this is the OS getting bogged down by cruft.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of one more Android spy device in the house... 🤔

Wow ... Got some free #ebooks I wanted to read. Figured out that reading on the #laptop is not a good idea, because I always get distracted. Then I remembered I have an old #nexus7 which has some #touch problems and is because of that not much usable. Found the thing, #sideloaded unofficial #lineageos17, installed #librerapro and #quickdic from @fdroidorg@mastodon.technology, connected the tablet to my #debian10 powered laptop and synced the #calibre library to it. Now I have and #ebook reader which is SUPERB!!
