#nfotd The F Word (released in America as What If)
Very sweet and charming, I do like Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan so much.

#nfotd The Fall (2006, dir Tarsem Singh)
Its a very *beautiful* film and if I was 17 when I saw it it probably would have changed my life, but it was a little more boring than I was expecting it to be, especially given how passionately people talk about it.
#nfotd Mr. Malcolm's List
Meh. Theo James was extremely handsome and Ashley Park stole every scene she was in though, so that was something.
#nfotd 47 Ronin
Meh. Surprisingly lifeless given the cast, its about 37% as good as it should have been.
Also: it should just have been its own story and not a "reimagining" of the actual 47 Ronin event. Let that stand on its own, and just have a different story. Its OK!
#nfotd Postcards from London
I should have paid more attention to the description that had the phrase "in the spirit of Derek Jarman" in it. I guess Derek Jarman and Derek Jarman-adjacent movies appeal to some people, but they do not appeal to me.
#nfotd Chan is Missing
Interesting film that felt almost like a documentary of Bay Area Chinatown in the late 70s/early 80s.
And man, I know it was about the San Francisco community but Wood Moy could not keep a lid on that New York accent!
#nfotd The Toll ("The Tollbooth" in the US release)
It was...okay? It had a very late-90s feel to it for some reason. There were a bunch of small independent films that came out around the same time that all had a similar "feel".
#nfotd Birdman
I really liked this. It won Best Picture over Selma, and I get why people voted that way, but on the balance I think Selma should have won as a better overall experience of film.
#nfotd You People
I had a physical reaction to the amount and severity of secondhand embarrassment I experienced throughout.
#nfotd Apollo 10 1/2
Just beautiful, and me with big sentimental tears at the Apollo 11 launch and Moon landing. Wonderful childhood memories from Linklater, and so nice to be free of irony-poisoning an cynicism for an hour and a half.
#nfotd Violent Night
OMG that was so grisly! Funny, but *extremely* bloody and gory. David Harbour must have had a really good time filming it.
#nfotd Honk For Jesus Save Your Soul
Oh so good. Reginal Hall is a marvel, she really can do it all. And Nikki Beharie!
