#NGC4565 Needle #Galaxy here exposured about a week ago, just before light summer nights starts here in southern #Finland. Telescope 0.3m/F4 Newtonian, LRGB filters 4x~1h.
As a bonus, the image shows also the faint #quasar QSO B1233+262, brightness V 20.84 mag, redshift z ~2.09, so the distance to it is about 11.2 billion light years. Fasten your seat belts tight and avoid a sudden stop because we're moving away from each other at a speed of 243,000 km/s.

It spans 100,000 light years across and is interacting with the nearby galaxy #NGC4562 shown in the upper right. NGC 4565 Needle Galaxy
Magnitude 10.42 edge-on spiral galaxy located 42.7 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It has at least two satellite galaxies, one of which is interacting with it. It has a population of roughly 240 globular clusters, more than the Milky Way.

Magnitude 10.42 edge-on spiral galaxy located 50 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1785.

#astronomie #astronomy #astrophotographie 2ème tentative sur #NGC4565 cette semaine, malgré a un air encore bien sec et une bonne mise au point j'ai des problèmes d'autoguidage, je n'ai pu garder que 10 poses sur près de 30 😭 je crois qu'il va falloir rouvrir le capot du vieux T200 (22 ans) et retoucher à la vis sans fin (déjà fait il y a 3 ou 4 ans) ... On voit quand même 2 petites galaxies qui entoure la spirale vue de coté

159 followers · 1726 posts · Server mastodon.xyz#astronomie enfin le retour du beau temps 🌞en mode #confinement dans mon jardin je resors le #dobson pour le tester sur les galaxies triplet du lion, M64, et surtout #NGC4565 et la chevelure de Bérénice 🔭🌠 hélas le léger voile de cirrus s'est transformé en couche de nuages bas mais la semaine prochaine s'annonce bien ...
Le dobson a quand même souffert de l'humidité cet hivers. Il va falloir améliorer son stockage.
