I suspect quite a few of you might be keen on open-source 😀

Unfortunately, #opensource has a funding problem, and so a lot of people struggle to find time to commit to their projects.

In many regions though (esp the EU) there is money available to fund you doing open source full time! Particularly in a few different areas related to what the EU is calling "Next Generation Internet" (#NGI) tech.

I'm really happy to announce the #SummerofNix 2023, organized together with the #NixOS and #NLNet foundations.

We have significantly reworked the collaboration format and will focus exclusively on #mobprogramming this year. In addition, we will be working on a monorepo “ngipkgs” for all #NGI Nix packages.

Thank you, @EU_Commission and NGI program, for the support and the belief in Nix as a tool to manage the complexity of #opensource.

#NGI #NGIzero #EU My attitude to funders, and I talk to a lot of them. As an organic intellectual, my job is outreach. It is almost always more funding poured directly down the drain, move on. But if we get past that stage I like to engage, this is not because I won't the money though #OMN would put it to "commons" use if they did give some in the end. More to see if they actually capable of doing what they say. Then to see what they actually fund, this is almost away the #NGO agenda.

It's important to remember in #openweb tech that most funding is poured directly down the drain, all value comes from #DIY culture which is always underfunded. Would be a good idea to try to rebalance this mess.

The email says it is completely anonymous. Now I would be inclined to fill it in, if it weren't for the fact that the survey URL leads first to click.mlsend.com and has this encrypted blob on the querystring.

And also I don't know where that link redirects.. may well be to a #Google Forms page?

These #privacy aspects withhold me.

You might just include a plain link directly to the form.

ZOOM is such a bad experience for commons #4opens working events as everything to do with #open is turned off by default. Please do not use this #DOTCONS for your #openweb events, it is the wrong tool and makes your behaver bad...
