i have a small website which uses #Nginx to serve a few static files for family.
Four people at most will use it.

it is ssl only, using a letsencrypt cert.

I’d like to password protect it. Is http basic auth good enough? are there better (yet easy to setup) options out there?

So I am finding myself clearly limited when it comes to tinkering #NGINX. What I want to do is to have the NGINX configuration for #Mastodon (see here https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/install/#setting-up-nginx) in one machine, and the processes (what you proxy_pass, mastodon-web and mastodon-streamig + sideqik) in another one.

I am stuck in the fact that the static files are served from the same NGINX instance (locally to the machine where the files are), and if not found, proxy_pass to mastodon-web.

Any ideas, folks?

Looking at some monitoring options for #nginx, came across a cool looking dashboard that F5 came up with. It's included with something they're calling nginx plus, so I took a peek.

ROFL, GET FUCKED MATES!..... F5 Inc is out of their fucking minds! $4k annually for a fucking web server daemon you still need to host yourself?!? I don't care if you do include a few pretty graphs and load balancing.... it's not fucking worth that much! If I need a LB in front I'll just spin up a Varnish instance.

I've got all the processes running for pixelfed *except*, when I try to connect to the website I am getting a socket error:

connect() to unix:/var/run/php/php8.1-fpm.sock

The socket should be, according to my settings in /etc/php/8.2/fpm/pool.d/pixelfed.conf :
/run/php/pixelfed.sock

But it doesn't seem to be honouring it and I can’t figure out where that incorrect socket setting is coming from.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Interested in setting up a single-serving #website with #nginx or #flask or some kind of #python app server on a small & cheap #EC2 #Linux instance or something. I haven't done this in a long time, and am curious/interested in learning about what the current "production standard" is these days. Got any tips?

Nerding out at home... My 3-node very secure #Raspberrypi #kubernetes cluster is up. GPG keys for ssh, #nginx ingress, certs for https, and only 1 port gets in.

Next step: battery. Maybe private ethernet for cluster? Wires just aren't cute.
