#NGI #NGIzero #EU My attitude to funders, and I talk to a lot of them. As an organic intellectual, my job is outreach. It is almost always more funding poured directly down the drain, move on. But if we get past that stage I like to engage, this is not because I won't the money though #OMN would put it to "commons" use if they did give some in the end. More to see if they actually capable of doing what they say. Then to see what they actually fund, this is almost away the #NGO agenda.

While it is true that most of the value comes from #DIY culture, funding can help to support and sustain this culture, providing resources and support to help communities. One initiative that is working to address this issue is #NGIZero, which is a program funded by the European Commission to support the development of #openweb technologies. Through this program, funding is provided to support projects that focused on #NGO and #geekproblem projects.

It's important to remember in #openweb tech that most funding is poured directly down the drain, all value comes from #DIY culture which is always underfunded. Would be a good idea to try to rebalance this mess.

Any updates on this? If they are going down the same #NGIzero path then they are the problem rather than the solution, the value is in #openweb culture more than the hard tech which at best if a manifestation of this value.

Funding for @gitea #federation got accepted! @a @6543 and I will be working on implementing Federation into Gitea.

As well funding for @mcaptcha got accepted! @realaravinth and I will be working on improving mCaptcha.

Was thinking of applying to these guys as we do tick all the boxes. https://www.ripe.net/support/cpf/selection-committee but looking at the bios there is no chance they will go for grassroots #DIY messy tech that is needed for #indymediaback and #OGB the text might be #openweb, but the people are #geekproblem and #mainstreaming gatekeeping these public resources
