Does anyone using #Nheko experiences horrible performance, especially when typing? I've looked through issues on GitHub, but it doesn't seem to be common.
So I tried several #matrix clients over the last few months.
I tried #nheko and #neochat - and I like both very much. But they both have stuff that does not work as reliably as I would like it. neochat does not really show me spaces, at least I feel like they are not as discoverable as with nheko for example.
nheko is also really nice, but does not integrate into #kde that good (visually).
I am now back to #element, believe it or not. :blobeyes:

It seems that all of the topics I'm interested in from @kde 's #Akademy2023 are from the BoF sessions (eg #PlasmaMobile and associated applications nuch as #NeoChat , #Nheko , @tokodon etc).
Does anyone know where there may be videos of the BoF sessions online? I wonder if @kde_community is planning to upload these in addition to the main talks?

#Nheko has the best interface and flow, but for some reason freezes for a while if a large image is pasted...
"mtxclient mostly implements the API calls and some crypto primitives. A lot of stuff still lives in #Nheko, because we couldn't figure out how to fit it neatly into mtxclient (like the storage layer, device verification flows, etc). But apart from that, probably. It is pure C++, so you don't even need to use Qt to create a client with it.

I want #matrix to become federated #zulip by implementing a notion of threads only rooms and copying zulip's ideas of showing threads in the sidebar. The current implementation of threads sucks. #Nheko tries to do something about it and while it is better than #element, it still looks very noisy when I try to catch up with a very active room.

Hey, someone grabbed me during/after FOSDEM and asked me to record a podcast. As you know, I love to rant, so of course I accepted. I talk a bit about #nheko, a bit about #matrix and a lot about criticizing stuff and how you might be able to do the latter productively and beneficial for everyone.
Warning, the podcast is in german! But you can find it here: https://anchor.fm/matrix-podcast0/episodes/Nico---FOSDEM-2023-e1vf7g1
Thanks @jaller94 for having me!
Hey, there is a new #Nheko in town!
It brings many improvements to the markdown input, user search for the invite dialog and lots of fixes and improvements! Check it out here: https://github.com/Nheko-Reborn/nheko/releases/tag/v0.11.2
(Nheko is a #matrix client, if you know what that means!)
Today (monday):
* meetings
* renewed some ssl certs
* Fixed a broken git repo in a fork on src.fp.o. (Somehow packed-refs had junk in it)
* untagged rawhide builds that broke things (see @adamw's report from today)
* reinstalled 5 virt servers with rhel 9.1 while leaving their guests alone.
Still sticking with #nheko as my matrix client, gotten pretty used to it now. :)
#nheko has gotten a ton better since I last tried it. :) Gonna try using it as my main matrix client for a bit. It looks like everything I use/need is implemented now and it has some nice extra features over element.
