It has always been the case that some patients will be transferred to a diferent #NHS within the UK if beds or expertise are not available locally. However, #BBC #Scotland love to trumpet cases where NHS Scotland sends patients to England because they think this proves we are better together. I wonder if they’ll bother mentioning this news about patients moving in the opposite direction?

Health Update.

I've finally accepted stronger painkillers, I don't like medication for my own reasons, but a good chat today and I agreed. I have to get more bloods done tomorrow for various things, checking white blood count again, thyroid and menopause bloods. The big result, I've to wait for an appointment for a spinal MRI. I've been asking for one for over a year!

Further research in today’s Times highlighting the issues of #mentalhealth and the #workplace. The result of huge #NHS waiting lists for #counselling and the impact of poor #worklifebalance - which clients discuss with me every day - is felt constantly in workplaces and in schools, colleges and universities. We need access to counselling for all within hours or days, not weeks or months.

Omisha was just 10 months old when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. She needed a liver transplant and several rounds of chemotherapy - the #NHS saved her life.
Omisha was born in 2019 in Britain, but because of her parents’ immigration status, she was charged £76,000 for her care. The hospital sent #DebtCollectors to chase her family for payment and reported the debt to the #HomeOffice who refused her mum a visa because of their NHS bill.

A trial scheme which paid for the cost of heating the homes of some vulnerable NHS patients saw huge improvements in self-reported levels of physical and mental health, a reduction in GP appointments and even prescriptions.

Yes, my (partly) #NHS dentist has reduced the number of #dentists doing NHS work & the last NHS check-up I had was perfunctory & involved a significant level of cross-selling of other privatised services...

Idly checking the waiting times as it’s been 3 years since I was referred “as a matter of urgency” by my GP and the university…..

4 years 9 months wait for assessment, another year and 7 months for treatment after that… so a SIX YEAR four month wait time to get to the point where you can book an appointment to discuss medication.
