The National Insurance Act 1911 created a national system of insurance to protect working people against loss of income relating to sickness or unemployment (thereby reducing the demand on Poor Law assistance). This Act is forever linked with the name of Lloyd George, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, non-covid services from the NHS all but disappeared.
These have not returned. Indeed, services over the internet, which are entirely inappropriate, continued into 2021.
GPs even threatened to strike if forced to see patients face-to-face once again.
We currently have no idea how many deaths were caused by a lack of NHS services in the recent past, or at present.

In addition, serious questions have been raised about links between Members of Parliament and major drug companies and whether politicians may be profiting from the private ‘sale’ of NHS assets.
