So why do the government expect #strikers to offer a compromise before any negotiation starts? The only reason that #NHSstrikes are happening is because successive pay impositions have degraded the value of junior doctors pay by (they claim) 35%. Surely if the government's attempts at pay negotiation have resulted in an overwhelming call for strike action then they, the government, need to make a reasonable first offer?

If in RCN or Unison which has recommended accepting a crappy well below inflation pay rise for NHS staff, workers should vote to reject. Then join a decent union such as UNITE which is already advising its NHS workers to reject this paltry offer.
