Today we packed all the tools,
And went to #Boothstown #RepairCafe.
It was very busy,
Lots of repairs done.
Visited a friend,
And had a cuppa and a chat.
Then home to play in the garden,
Where I dismembered an old trailer.
I also pruned a large fuchsia,
Can't spell that right without thinking 'Fuck Seer'.
Watched a bit of YouTube,
And checked up on parents.
Watched 'Working Girl' on TV and put the laundry on to wash.
Wondering if we should go out somewhere tomorrow,
And where that might be.
Time for bed now,

Today I overslept,
And then rushed to join Sue at work to clean the church.
Rushed back to take Mum to her hospital appointment,
Enjoyed seeing the ultrasound of her wrist.
Home to cancel the work in Warrington,
Dealt with phone calls instead.
Replace padlocks at work,
And had spare keys cut.
Did more random fixing,
And more than a little peopling.
Did caretaking,
And more cleaning.
Had fish and chips for dinner.
And watched TV.
Helped Sue with a frustrating email,
Trying to decide on some work.
Did a load of emails,
Now tired.

Today we took parents to vote,
And then we went to the community workshop.
Tied in the other end of a ring beam,
And fixed the generator.
Bought a tool from Lidl,
To try and experimental make.
Checked in on some work,
Then helped to paint roof trusses.
Did some emails,
And did caretaking.
Checked on parents,
And charged some batteries.
Got a call from the Reverend,
To check out a 'gassy' smell at the church hall.
Turned out to be plumbing in the Men's toilets,
Probably!

But getting tired now.

Today we cleaned the church and hall,
Then took the car for its MOT.
Though it was gloriously warm sunshine outside,
The garage waiting room was a fridge!
The car passed first go,
But we had to to drive away to get cash as the card machine wasn't working.
Did a soldering repair,
For a prospective Repair Cafe volunteer.
Then fine tuned the gate hinges,
Before going to install the gate.
Did caretaking,
And changed a toilet seat.
Did emails and admin,
And got a new book to read.
Checked up on parents,
And reminded them about ID for voting.

While listening to War of The Worlds soundtrack.

Today we had to wait in for a delivery,
So I wrote a report for work.
Had to check the delivery was right,
Before we could take parents shopping.
Booked the car for an MOT,
It will need work but my diary is full.
I carried on with cutting and welding,
And made a gate for an awkward space with steps.
Did caretaking,
And all of yesterday's H&S checks.
Did a bit of lathe turning,
And some welding and grinding.
Checked on parents,
Then caught up on YouTube.
Now tired,

Today I was thinking of welding outdoors,
But it had rained and was damp.
We decided to go out instead,
And went to a steam museum in Bolton.
Bought some old tools,
To help them raise funds.
Enjoyed watching mill engines in steam,
And had tea and crisps and cakes.
Had another look around,
And bought some old books.
Went on to a garden centre in Bury,
And bought two plants when we found them.
Home to check on parents,
They are frustrating as normal.

Today we had eggs for breakfast,
As is tradition.
Then I sliced a pineapple,
So Sue could make a cake.
We had a call for help,
From @alisonatkin and @ianatkin.
Went over to their house,
With cutting tools.
We cut out and removed a scaffold tube carport frame,
And then had tea and a chat with them.
Had a migraine in the afternoon (probably all day),
And went to sleep it off.
Watched a little YouTube,
And planned a balustrade for the community workshop.
Still groggy this evening,
So off to bed again.

I had a disturbed sleep with bad dreams.
Met a builder at work,
And showed him the jobs to quote for.
Loaded all the tools,
And went to Moss Side Repair Cafe.
Did a few repairs,
While describing the process.
Then ran a training session,
Covering multimeter use and soldering.
Came home to unload tools,
And check on parents.
Unwound watching YouTube,
And put laundry on for the morning.

And my eyes are still sore.

I joined her later to clean the church.

To repair a 4kVA generator.
Drew up a sketch for an odd shaped gate,
And sourced some scrap for hinges.
Did caretaking,
And cleaning.

They are still good.

And went to the #CommunityWorkshop.
I worked on securing a ring beam,
On to the front of the workshop.
Also helped with some other tasks,
And making sure the site was safe.
Took parents for their Covid booster,
That took longer than expected.
Dragged out an old garden gate,
And disc cut off all the fancy scroll work.
Went to do caretaking,
And returning all the wheelie bins.
Did laundry for parents,
And made sure they were ok.
Wrote a proforma invoice,
And got paid by the client.
DId a load of research,
And designed the simple project.
Now tired,
And eyes are sore.

Then we took parents for their blood tests.
After lunch we walked to the hospital,
Where I had a chest X-ray.
Emptied all the bins,
And put the bins out.

Wasn't in the right headspace.

And went to the Community Workshop.
We watched a team from Tarmac and Costain,
They laid the tarmac outside the workshop.
Then we got on with cutting plywood,
And boarding out the workshop walls.

Dad's blood sugar is a lot lot better.
Watched a little TV and YouTube,
While online trade shopping.
Did a load of emails and admin,
Now exhausted.

On that vacuum I fixed yesterday.
Lent some bricklaying tools to a friend,
And made up another working earbud set for Sue.

And set electricians doing some work.
Then went to the community workshop,
And pulled up all the oak canopy posts.
Also tidied the workshop,
And moves stuff aside for boarding out.
Popped into Lidl,
And bought some Lego Technic.
Home to repair a headphone charger,
And a Nilco vacuum cleaner.
The charger had broken PSU wires,
The Nilco needed motor brushes.
I modified some Henry Hoover brushes,
And now it works again!
Checked on Parents,
They are fine.
Did laundry,
And watched a little YouTube.
Built the Lego Technic,
And played with the little telehandler.
I think it is time for bed,
Didn't sleep well last night.

While I did some online trade shopping.
Then I went to join Sue,
And finish up vacuuming the church.
Parents left laundry,
So put that on to wash for them.
Started packing tools for work in the afternoon,
One tool trolley case and a load of loose stuff.
Decided to make an adaptor,
To fit a crate to my tool trolley.
Rushed off to Manchester,
To carry on repairing conference tables.
Took a break to have a coffee,
And meet with a fellow maker.
Back to finish the tables,
And bring back some homework.

And more cleaning.

They are fine.
Watched a TV film,
And a bit of YouTube.

I installed three more plywood boards,
Lining the inside of the container.

And had a team meeting.
Then had a job appraisal with my manager.
Explained my feelings about my job,

But physio was delayed.

About looking after his diabetes better.

And tidied up the brass bumper.

Today we took parents shopping,
Dad had to give up part way.
We had tea out in the garden,
And I began to dismantle the freebie trailer.
Moved some crappy soil,
And mixed it with some organics.

And uploading work photos.

And went into the miniatures workshop.
Made a brass bumper,
And soldered the parts together.

Mum is struggling with her physio.
It's her new training wrist splint,
It needs two hands to fit!
