Needed a hike after the past weeks of heat and in the news. Oxley provides that place of and @Wonder that we all need. We are early in , but are seeing an amazing number of already. I wonder if the spike in migration is related to the in Canada = purely conjecture on my part, not even at hypothesis rank.

This is one of my favorites, a . Their call reminds me of a small running through a sweep. They can be very gregarious if you are lucky. and talk to them softly.

Continuing to experiment and learn how to best process black and white images in Darktable. This image is from Hidden Lake Trail (near Logan Pass). I think the leftmost peak is Haystack Butte, the central peak is Mount Gould, and the rightmost peak is Bishops Cap. Taken in color and converted to the black and white image I imagined using Darktable. A long-term learning process, but that's basically what life is about - always learning, always growing, always being kind and open.



-500 telephoto (my go-to hiking setup).

A couple of shots from last weekend at the beach.

Despite bringing a frankly absurd amount of photography gear, I didn't end up doing a ton of shooting. I think I really needed the break after the move in May, and getting settled into the new place through the first half of June. So it was nice to just spend time with friends and reconnect a bit.

Spent this past weekend down on the Washington coast with some friends, celebrating the birthday of one of the group. The weather was frequently cloudy, but the sun did peak out from time to time, including this wonderful sunset.
