Just started reading the 568! page #Eversource Electric Sector Modernization Plan. The highlight so far is the enormous increase in capacity required to switch from gas to heat pumps for winter heating.

This is going to be a massive and contentious issue, particularly with the #NIMBY movement.

@breadandcircuses The "system change" we need is eventually going to have to come from the local level. Transportation, housing, and land use are all key to decarbonization, and are mostly governed at the nonpartisan local level.

Try to build a wind farm, a walkable neighborhood, or use some road space for low carbon transport -- local NIMBYs will ensure that nothing gets done.

Unfortunately, our climate problems go far beyond Micro$oft and Lockheed.

However #Burlington is creating mobility hubs around each GO station, spurring development of high density residential and commercial right around these exact areas!

Radfahren in #sachsen. In jedem dritten Dorf eine Initiative gegen Windkraft. Mir kommt die witzige Idee, mich als Location-Scout der RWE auszugeben und im Dorf zu verbreiten, dass unter der Scholle eine ergiebige Braunkohle-Schicht liegt, außerdem das Gelände ideal für ein Kohlekraftwerk ist. Oder, andere Idee, ich gründe einen Bundesverband #nimby und werde aus den Mitgliedsbeiträgen reich. Die Dörfer, die nicht Mitglied werden, kriegen alle
