240 followers · 1071 posts · Server masthead.socialI started with going deep on #WalterReisch (set off by his co-write, with #BillyWilder, on #Ninotchka) and that led me #WilliForst, first as actor then director and producer, then #GezavonBolvary and the whole #ViennaFilms genre made in Germany beginning in the silent 1920's and continuing through WWII, with the consent of the #ThirdReich. #Lubitsch is here as is #ZoltanKorda and #AntonWalbrook, all in German. Have any of you #filmnerds been this way? Any tips?

Directed by Ernst Lubitsch, written by Charles Brackett, Billy Wilder and Walter Reisch and featuring Greta Garbo in what is perhaps her greatest performance.
It is truly rare to find a film so perfectly balanced between humor, romance and acute socio-political satire.
