As always it is unfortunate and plainly misleading how photographic images of comet C/2023 (Nishimura) imply an easy to see naked eye comet with a long tail. It is not.
I can understand that not every photographer adds this explanation to their images but I have now seen so many click-bait websites praising this comet as something for the layman. Not nice. #comet #nishimura

The light curve below shows that comet C/2023 P1 Nishimura is brightening up nicely. Current apparent magnitude is below 4 (lower is brighter).
In theory, objects with mag 6 and lower are visible to the naked eye, but currently the comet is low on the horizon during the early morning hours, so visibility depends on local conditions.

#DidYouKnow: Comet #Nishimura (C/2023 P1), Named for Hideo Nishimura, the Japanese photographer who first spotted it, may be visible now.
Nishimura captured the comet on Aug. 12 while imaging the sky before sunrise with a digital camera — the third comet he has discovered.
#Comet #Nishimura this morning (10.09.2023) at 05:23 CEST. Seen from a mountain east of Heidelberg, Germany
Photo taken with 35mm lens showing the position of the comet and #Venus at the right border.
As today the light of the comet was already fighting with the morning dawn, I assume this was the last day to see it in the morning sky.

I decided to try to get a photo of #Comet #Nishimura this morning. Haze, smoke, clouds, and the glow from Omaha just about thwarted me, but it looks like I managed to capture #CometNishimura in the last photo before I ran out of darkness.
