Yesterday after a productive little hazmat exercise, I headed to our fake dump to show some label to my colleagues... and ran into 2 x 3,3L of nitrous oxide.
A fun combo of strong greenhous gas, oxidizing agent, food additive, pain killer and of course party drug. Not part of our exercise, but of course we took the opportunity for a short extra.
Finding (empty) cannisters at almost every street corner these days.

New source of potent greenhouse gas found in Siberian permafrost

According to a recent study conducted on #Kurungnakh Island and published in the Nature Communication scientific journal, rising #Arctic temperatures are causing the island’s #permafrost to thaw. This thaw is causing the release of #NitrousOxide (#N2O), the third-most powerful #GreenhouseGas after #CarbonDioxide and #methane, from the permafrost.

#GreenhouseGas Bulletin: Another Year Another Record

Concentration of#CarbonDioxide (#CO2), the most important greenhouse gas, reached 413.2 parts per million in 2020 and is 149% of the pre-industrial level. #Methane (#CH4) is 262% and #NitrousOxide (#N2O) is 123% of the levels in 1750 when human activities started disrupting Earth’s natural equilibrium.
