help I have #AADD, adult attention deficient disorder.I went down a #rabbitHole and found a #rabbitMaze. today was to be #taxDay but so far I have found all these acronyms.
#lora - long range radio
#meshtastic
#nodeRed
#yggdrasil
#nncp - node-node copy
and mushrooms.
I've added a half dozen interesting folks to my follow list.
Its all way more interesting than figuring out the US fed tax code.

Turns out there is a UUCP successor called NNCP (node-to-node copy), http://www.nncpgo.org/ with several interesting use-cases http://www.nncpgo.org/Use-cases.html -- including censorship circumvention. I have no experience with NNCP so far. #retrocomputing #usenet #nntp #nncp #censorship #infosec

It still could use some work (and that's detailed in the TODO file), but I've committed #NNCP to pkgsrc-wip. It builds and installs at least on NetBSD/amd64 9.2. https://wip.pkgsrc.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=pkgsrc-wip.git;a=tree;f=nncp;h=6d8f5ec9f06becd3bc7a9eb243626d811340c736;hb=HEAD
I completed my first file transfer via #NNCP tonight. It was from a system running NetBSD/amd64 to one running NetBSD/i386, both on version 9.2.
I did it over the LAN. Next I'll try it over sneakernet. I do like the fact that you can specify multiple "addresses," i.e. ways to get a file from one node to another - or none at all if you're going to use a sneakernet method instead.
Does anyone have any experience using #NNCP? I've had a latent interest in it for some time but just now got around to compiling and installing it. It's mainly the ability to use it via sneakernet that I'm interested in, though the security features are interesting as well.
And for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, its website is here: http://www.nncpgo.org/
